Meet Lylian Corneling of Lilco Flowers

October 17, 2019

The founder of Lilco Flowers, Lylian Corneling was born and raised in Jakarta. She studied Architect at University of Pelita Harapan as she has always been amazed by the idea and the process of designing remarkable sculptures and installations. She started learning and exploring the art of paper flowers since 2017, when her friend asked her to decorated a bridal shower, She challenged herself on this project to create paper flowers instead of wasting real ones. She then discovered the joy of making paper flowers and her true passion in art and craftsmanship, moreover making paper flowers takes her to a glimpse of her childhood where she got to play with papers and scissor as well as playing with soil freely.

Lilco Flowers focused on making paper flowers as an art that look exactly to its original state. Lylian thrives to always make the best of it. Their product uses high quality papers and a little of imagination to add more appealing color to it. This piece of art is applicable to enhance the mood and set a perfect ambiance.

with her brother Rheza, He went to Philippines for Aviation Course and now he works in aviation industry. It is a pleasure for Rheza to pour his ideas into helping his sister a little on making some flowers. This kind of activity is helping him to become more active on ground level as he is always passionate with craftsmanship and aesthetic objects.

Together they aim to introduce the art of paper flowers and how to make them. The outcome can be therapeutic or maybe a new hobby. Perseverance and eagerness are two very important keys to Lylian’s work ethics as for some people think that it is simple to make a tiny sized petal flower but it actually need perseverance in order to endure the tiredness in making those tiny sized petals in large quantities. Lylian always try to do something in her own particular way as to have real excitement in what she does is a necessity, she is very fond of learning new things.

Lylian honestly believe that although the creative industry in Indonesia is already big but somehow not much of Indonesians knows how to value the idea that every pieces of art comes from different organic ideas, the amount of time to create them as for each art has each own difficulties, it speaks something, and it has different values.

making paper flowers has become a stress therapy for Lylian, as for the outcome of it are very satisfying for her. She strongly suggested for someone who are still figuring out their hobby, then they should try that activity.

“Flaunt your flaws. Perfect is not an art” –Lylian Corneling of Lilco Flowers
