The panel of this pillow cover is made by the weavers of Nek Mese in West Timor using cotton fibers have been dyed black with mud dyes. Threads of Life works with weavers who still have the ability to make traditional tectiles using natural dyes; to generate income and to maintain the traditional weaving and dyeing practices that are so integral to their rich cultures. The solid colored back panel is made from cocoons from the Attacus Atlas moth. These cocoons are harvested after the moth has flown(Ahimsa) Harvesting Attacus silk is one way of diversifying income from natural forest systems to help preserve forests.
