The irate panel of this pillow cover was made by weavers in Sulawesi using cotton fibres, natural dyes and traditional motifs. The vibrant red dye from Morinda tree roots takes months to complete. The solid color blue panel of this pillow cover has been dyed using indigo dye (Indigofera Tinctoria) by the weavers of Biran Sina traditional arts cooperative in Watublapi, Flores of the ethnic group Sikka Krowe, work together to preserve the weaving art and music of their community. Threads of Life works with weavers who still have the ability to make traditional textiles using natural dyes in order to generate income and to maintain the traditional weaving and dyeing practices that are so integral to their rich cultures.
